In certain situations, people live together without ever getting married or entering into a civil partnership.

The term, Common Law Husband and Wife, does not exist in English law. Couples who live together in England and Wales but who aren’t married are deemed to be cohabiting.

The big difficulty for cohabiting couples is that the law does not recognise you and therefore important legal issues such as property ownership, Wills and pensions could be overlooked at the most critical time.
