Drink Driving

The police are entitled to make random stops of motorists, but they are not entitled to request a breath sample unless they have good reason to suspect that someone has been drinking.

Good reasons may include having committed a motoring offence (e.g. speeding), been involved in an accident or having consumed alcohol.
